Biome at Habitat India: Putting the SDGs on the Board
For an environment and climate conversation space - Habitat India Delhi, Biome created signage featuring all 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), printed on BIOMEBOARD™.
Made primarily from agricultural residue, including wheat straw, BIOMEBOARD™ transforms crop waste into an engineered board for furniture, interiors and signage. The printed goal icons and names sit against the board’s distinctive, speckled texture.
Nine Goals. One Material Innovation.
Biome’s work directly aligns with nine SDGs: 1 (No Poverty), 2 (Zero Hunger), 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), 13 (Climate Action), 15 (Life on Land) and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
By creating value from agricultural residue, developing alternative engineered panels and working with fabrication and design partners, Biome aims to advance more circular approaches to material production.
The SDGs are interconnected, and the full set belongs in a conversation about a sustainable future.
Why BIOMEBOARD™?
Agricultural residue is often burned or underutilised. Biome turns this resource into a material for everyday applications, creating an alternative to conventional wood-based boards. BIOMEBOARD™ is made with a No-Added Formaldehyde binder.
The signage brought the event’s message and its material together: sustainability is not only what we communicate, but also what we choose to make things from.
Signage cannot achieve the SDGs on its own. But it can start a conversation about the materials we use and the choices we make.

FAQs
What is BIOMEBOARD™?
BIOMEBOARD™ is an engineered board made primarily from agricultural crop residue, including wheat straw, for applications such as furniture, interiors and signage.
What are the Sustainable Development Goals?
The SDGs are 17 interconnected global goals adopted by the United Nations in 2015 as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Which SDGs does Biome directly support?
Biome's work aligns with SDGs 1, 2, 8, 9, 11, 12, 13, 15 and 17 through agricultural residue utilisation, material innovation and partnerships.
Does BIOMEBOARD™ help address stubble burning?
BIOMEBOARD™ creates a potential use for agricultural residue, but it does not by itself solve stubble burning. Its contribution is to develop a market for crop residue as a raw material.
Can BIOMEBOARD™ be used for signage?
Yes. BIOMEBOARD™ can be used for printed signage, display panels and spatial communication systems, depending on the design and installation requirements.
Does the UN endorse Biome or its signage?
No. Displaying the SDG icons does not imply United Nations endorsement of Biome or its products.
